HIV virus cannot grow or reproduce on their self. HIV virus infects the cells of a living organism in order to replicate or make new copies of them. The human immune system usually finds and kills viruses from germ or other disease quickly but HIV attacks the immune system itself. HIV virus damage the immune cells in stages until the immune system can no longer fight off other infections that it would usually be able to prevent. These stages are based on your symptoms of HIV and the amount of the virus in your blood.

Person with HIV need around ten years or maybe more to develop AIDS because it grow slowly. Most people show no symptoms after being infected with HIV. This condition has separated in few stages. The first stage calls initial stage or acute retroviral syndrome. Acute retroviral syndrome is first stage of HIV virus infection with symptoms of HIV like mononucleosis. These symptoms often develop within a few days of infection but it may occur several weeks after the person is infected.

The symptoms of HIV in first stage may include abdominal cramps, nausea, or vomiting. Most people who get infected also experience diarrhea, fever, headache, skin rash, sore throat, rapid weight loss, muscle aches and joint pain also enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin. These first symptoms of HIV can occur from mild to severe and usually disappear on their own after 2 to 3 weeks. But some patients report that they experience these symptoms continuously.

Chronic stage is the next stage of HIV infection. In this stage, the HIV virus is multiplies so quickly in the body during this time that the immune system cannot destroy the virus. Then, the immune system starts to weaken after years of fighting HIV. Usually symptoms of HIV begin present in this time. Doctor may suspect someone get infected by HIV when the cause of several disease can not be identified. Chronic stage in HIV infection may present as confusion, dry cough, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, diarrhea, loss of appetite, mouth sores, fever and swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin.
